At RPC, we specialize in providing HR and Employee Relations training and HR investigations training workshops.  Our training is very interactive and experiential, as we engage attendees in practical “hands on” skills development in how to properly conduct an investigation into allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, or other types of employee misconduct.  We have been in business since 2002 and have clients in all industry sectors and of all sizes.  However, one common denominator with the clients we serve is that we get to know our clients’ business before we even step foot in the classroom to begin training employees.  As an example of how we get to know our clients, we have been in steel toed boots and coveralls visiting a client’s oil rig in Victoria, TX, and we have also walked many miles (in steel toed boots) in a shipyard where nuclear submarines are being built.  Our most significant example is our experience working on a Native American reservation where potatoes are grown to supply Frito Lay.  We wanted to learn about and understand their agricultural operation and unique challenges in investigating employee misconduct. We really get to know our clients, the business operations to ensure our training is relevant, and we identify the organizational and team challenges as well as the desired skills development.  It is at that point that we then put together a targeted training program that delivers the desired results.  Since the founding of RPC in 2002 our mission has been the same:  To provide targeted, results-focused training and performance solutions.

2-Day HR Workshop:  Handling Employee Complaints & Conducting Internal Investigations

3-Day HR Workshop:  Improving Employee Relations & Conducting Internal Investigations

In the past several years, since the #MeToo movement, we have definitely seen an increase in organizations requesting internal investigations training, especially HR investigations training.  Additionally, with recent events regarding racial biases and the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling that sex provision of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act now applies to LGBTQ employees.  With the significant social changes, organizations are seeing an increase in employee relations’ issues. All one needs to do is look at a news feed today to see yet another employer who has been sued–and had to write a check with a lot of zeros on it–to settle a claim for harassment, discrimination, retaliation, or other legal issues.  And, in looking at the EEOC charge statistics at eeoc.gov, it is evident that the number of claims is increasing each year, particularly claims of retaliation.  What that means is that more EEOC charge notices are coming across the desks of HR professionals.  And, if HR professionals are not doing a good job of investigating issues internally, and documenting them, the risk to the organization increases.

We provide several training program options, ranging from an abbreviated 1.5 day program to a 3-day comprehensive workshop, which includes an experiential learning environment in which attendees work a “day-in-the-life” of an investigator to work through a mock investigation.  We also design and deliver a variety of internal investigations virtual training solutions to meet the needs of organizations that must conduct virtual HR investigations.  Or, for organizations that have HR | ER teams in various locations and conducting virtual HR investigations training is a more effective strategy.  We have a variety of schedules for delivering virtual HR internal investigations training and can accommodate the needs of any organization, such as hosting four, 3-hour sessions, which is the equivalent of our 2-day classroom program that is 12 contact hours.

In both our 2-day and our 3-day program (which are also facilitated virtually as well) the mock investigation is a practical application workshop portion of the program that enables attendees to apply the skills they’ve learned in the first part of the training.  In the mock investigation workshop, attendees learn how to create a strategic investigative process to work a case, how to create witness interview questions, how to properly conduct witness interviews, how to evaluate methods for gathering evidence, how to determine credibility of witnesses, how to evaluate investigative findings, and discuss investigative outcomes with leadership and evaluate post-investigative strategies to minimize organizational risk.

We would love to work with you and your organization to develop a targeted, results-focused HR investigations training for your team.
